PE and Sport Premium Funding
The government in England has provided funding of £150 million per annum since 2013 to provide substantial additional primary school sport funding. This funding is being continued and is funded jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Head teachers to spend on improving the quality of physical education and sport for all their children.
Funding for schools is calculated by the number of primary-aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11) as at the annual school Census in January. All schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £16,000 plus an additional premium of £10 per pupil.
The funding is ring-fenced and can only be spent on Physical Education and Sport provision in schools. The money has to be spent on improving the provision of Physical Education and Sport.
